About Shiva Sound...

Meena Supreme
is the second CD of Shiva Sound and the fourth of Stefanie Ringes),
alma mater of this formation. The band start moving through
Indian and latin sounds, especially brasilian sound. Loops and hip -
hop basis stay in a second plan, while zurdos, pandeiros
and tamborín get more significance. Exotic rhythms and images
evoke band’s melodies, the magic world of Stefanie Ringes, a world
that she creates in her lives and her life!

Shiva
is the name of the popular God...but in fact the origin of the
band’s name is not so spiritual! Stefanie buy a microphone in a trip
to India, which brand is Shiva Sound System. The microphone
of her first shows, starting with the project Shiva Sound.

Stefanie Ringes is the heart and
face of the band. Since she founds her first band at 13, she don’t
stop travelling. Born in Holland, she spend a part of her childhood
in Argentina. Coming in Madrid, she become famous in the 90’s with
the successful band Lions in Love. (Discography Drogaza)

In 1998, Stefanie decides to
follow her own way and founds Shiva Sound.

Orientalism
sound of Indian music is the main influence that she feels and tries
to recreate in her music. Exotism is the other word to qualify her
music, throught latin rhythms and it also refers to the dreams and
clichés from an Dutch girl, who is dreaming with sunny countries,
beachs and palm trees.

The first album of Stefanie Ringes
in solo comes in 2000. Shiva Sound, the name of the album
like the band’s name, evokes an atmosphere with electronic sounds,
funk, hip-hop, samba or bossa nova, mixed and produced by Chop Suey
and Watch Tv.

Five years later, Meena Supreme
appears, produced by Stefanie herself and Antonio Claret: electronic
sounds dilute with the sensual brasilian melodies of zurdos,
pandeiros and tamborín, without neglecting influences
of Indian music, and especially the seductive voice of Stefanie.
Shiva Sound’s music, sweet and smarmy, bring us to an agreeable and
relaxing world.
