Rumì, (named for the Persian poet/philosopher known as "the restless wanderer") is a work of great beauty and innovation. Producer Leo Z, who with Lu ( Luisa Cottifogli ) co-wrote most of the music for these fragments of ancient texts and sounds from the region of Emilia-Romagna as well the few more recent texts, has done her a great favor by stepping away from the tried and tested and dipping into a sea of electronics, augmented by a number of acoustic instruments, creating a sound that is mesmerizing; contemporary and timeless at the same time, a perfect vehicle for a collection of songs that works impeccably with her lovely voice. 

Abbondante profusione di idee, curiosità artistica, ricchezza di invenzione, sono le qualità più evidenti di Lu, insieme alla curva melodica della sua splendida voce, ampia, calda, screziata d’infinite sfumature e con la genialità di fraseggio che sempre l’ha contraddistinta con i Marlevar ed ora con  i Quintorigo. Per comporre Lu (Luisa Cottifogli) ha tratto ispirazione da antichi testi e poesie della sua terra, trasformando il dialetto in lingua universale. Sulla base di questi brevi temi Leo Z, raffinato compositore, ha curato gli arrangiamenti e costruito le pulsazioni, le strutture e le armonie della canzoni stesse, amalgamando musica contemporanea, etnica, sacra, pop ed elettronica.

MARLEVAR
Marlevar
(Forrest Hill Records - 2005)
 
Marlevar sing, mostly in Provençal, original compositions that speak of nature, religion, religion for nature and the Christian God. They also refer to smugglers (of goods and dreams and people), to technology and its power to transform nature and enslave us in a superhuman rhythm of life where we fall prey to technology itself. It sounds very contemporary, even modish. Although all the musicans deserve to be noted, it is Luisa Cottifogli's vocals that are up front in the mix and carry most of the weight of this experiment.
 
In lingua provenzale marlevar significa “mare in crescita” e dà il nome non solo al gruppo ma anche all’album.  Significa anche “lievitare”, come la loro musica. I cinque ottimi musicisti, diretti da Davi Arneodo, compositore delle musiche, il cui padre Sergio Arneodo poeta provenzale è invece autore delle liriche, sono accompagnati dal quartetto d’archi Athena String Quartet e dalla cantante ed interprete carica di pathos Luisa Cottifogli (Quintorigo) .
