L'Ham de Foc |
The third album of the spanish band "L'Ham de Foc" with Mara Aranda, Efren Lopez and many special guests: Hristos Barbas, Nikos Tzamis, Ralf Eickmeier, Josep Maìa Ribelles e Maria Laffitte. L´HAM DE FOC is a group from Valencia that plays contemporary folk music. Power and beauty are the two main concepts in their music, and fire and water the contrary elements that are symbolized by their name. L'Ham de Foc´s audience is as diverse as their instruments and influences: with their concerts and CDs , apart from the standard worldmusic/folk audience, they have also reached listeners coming from classical music, Rock/Pop, Gothic/Wave and medieval music. |

L´Ham de Foc´s first release is an exciting melange of Spanish traditions, medieval sounds and influences from Northern Europe, Greece, the Middle East, from Australia (by the use of a didgeridoo) and from India (Indian percussion and string instruments)...A band that belongs to the best of the New Folk bands that spring up all over Europe these days.

With this collection of Sephardic songs, Valencia-based group L’Ham du Foc’s side project Aman Aman come into their own. Aman Aman takes its name from an eastern Mediterranean expression meaning lovesickness, though it has different meanings stemming from the notion of surprise. The album is a vivid selection of exuberant songs from Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and Morocco, dear to the hearts of a generation born around the end of the 19th century in Salonika, Istanbul and Izmir. |
